Also gleich mal zum Bankomat: Złoty it is 😉
Ready to go und ab in die Stadt.
Cześć Warszawa!
I need to admit, Warsaw was not on my travel-priority list. Actually I knew just few about this city and the things i knew were not catchy enough to make me go there… BUT: it’s an underestimated city, i can tell you!
Not really planned I flew there – it’s just about 1 hour to go there – leaving from Vienna of course – and so it’s pretty fast and a good choice for a weekend escape.
One thing I always forget when traveling in Europe: there are still other currencies than the Euro – that’s also the case in Poland – so go for the next ATM to get your Zloty to be ready for the city!

Palace of culture and science #itsallabouttheview
9-20 Uhr//Eintritt: 20 PLN
Situated directly beside the trainstation you will find the palace of culture and science – a 230m high tower. There is a museum and a congress area inside, but the real interesting thing is the platform in the 30th floor where you can enjoy a great view.
The best time would be dusk to get the daylight and the night-mood. I couldn’t do so unfortunately.
opening hours:
9am-8pm//Entry: 20 PLN
Just continue walking you will find the Ogród parc. This is quite big and a beautiful place when it’s sunny!
There is a grave which is guarded all day, including an eternal flame. There is a changing of the guard at 12pm.
2. Old town
Wer’s mag…
Not much to say here – of course you need to go and see the old town – the center of Warsaw.
In the 2nd world war it was totally destroyed but they built it up completely. So it’s pretty special. When you stroll around the main square you will also find the museum of Marie Curie and Charlie Chaplin.
Something you will find like literally every 50m is a softice-stall. I’m not so sure why they do love it so much, but they obviousley do….
After doing the Sightseeing-tour all day, of course you will need some nice treats and rests!
I did not go for the touristy restaurants in the city center, but got some advices I will share here:
It’s a really hip café which I did not expect in Warsaw. It’s in the area of the University of Warsaw and they have super nice and healthy food, freshly roasted coffee and nice atmosphere. In the basement they also have a small orcanic market.
… here it’s also hip but maybe more polish style, kind of.
The menu is not so fancy and healty like in the other café, but they have great palatschinken (pancakes) which you need to try at least once when in Warsaw!
5. Lunch/Dinner
Ok. Schon gut eigentlich…
There are so many restaurants in Warsaw.
One I can clearly recommend ist Momu. Here you will get polish delights, great atmosphere and interior as well as nice staff. But they will not speak English so you should be brave and order whatever sounds funny or you will need to look some dishes up in advance…
We were some more ppl so we ordered kind of everything. Unfortunately i can’t remember any names of the dishes we had… but something i can remember: we had wodka for drinks – what else.
Ein hippes Lokal mit polnisch-internationaler Küche. Ob Lunch oder Dinner – good pick.
A hip restaurant with polsih and international kitchen. Good pick for lunch or dinner.
6. Bars/Drinks
Also here you can have a huge choice… I have two tips here:
The bar in the Sofitel Hotel – when you are not into party mood but you like nice cocktails – this is a really good place!
This is the club to be with a view over Warsaw – a really nice and fancy club. Many expats – especially men – good atmosphere, nice drinks, awesome view – so definitely go there when you are into fancy party mood! Music: electro
That’s it that’s all..
to sum it up: its definitly worth a weekend-trip!
